Orange Jumbles

Ingredients

  • 3¼ cups sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ⅓ cup butter or margarine, at room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 2 tsp. grated orange peel
  • 1 tsp. Sauer's Pure Orange Extract
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • Granulated sugar for dusting

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

1. In a medium bowl, sift together the first 3 ingredients.

3. In a second medium bowl, cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, orange peel, and extract, beating well. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, mixing well.

4. Cover and refrigerate dough until thoroughly chilled.

5. Roll out dough, ⅓ of the amount at a time, very, very thin, on a lightly floured board. Cut out with a lightly floured 2 to 2½-inch diameter doughnut cutter or other cookie cutters.

6. Arrange cookies on lightly greased baking sheets. Sprinkle each lightly with sugar.

7. Bake for 7-8 minutes or until lightly browned. Do not over bake.

8. Cool on metal racks.
